For Your Consideration:  To justify a private label programme requires

a minimum of 50,000 units per year for each sku to achieve cost effective pricing in packaging.

 

To amortize the relevant costs to set up a private label program (design and printing costs, segregated inventory and dedicated logistics stream) and to aggregate those costs to an acceptable level within the product price requires a programme commitment of a minimum of 3 years.

 

Insofar as Canada Sponge has the experience of having supplied a category in its house brand (Poseidon) and then having converted it to a private label programme, Canada Sponge has the knowledge of the effectiveness of private label supply.

LWG

Lanzarotta Wholesale Grocers was one of Canada's largest, most successful independent wholesale grocers, at distribution rates of nearly 10,000 products to 7,000 retailers a week until it was sold to a competitor.

 

Under the inspired leadership of VP David Applebaum at LWG, Canada Sponge supplied 15 skus of products in the household cleaning category under the LWG private label, Our Very Own. Below are photos of 6 of those products.
